The canton of San Pablo de Lípez is a municipality in the Department of Potosí in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

The Cantón San Pablo de Lípez is one of three cantons in the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) San Pablo de Lípez in the province of Sur Lípez . It borders in the north on the province of Nor Lípez , in the west on the canton San Antonio de Lípez , in the southwest on the municipality San Antonio de Esmoruco , in the south on the municipality Mojinete , and in the east on the province Sur Chichas .

The canton stretches between about 21 ° 18 'and 21 ° 49' south latitude and 66 ° 12 'and 66 ° 55' west longitude, it measures from north to south up to 50 kilometers, from west to east up to 75 kilometers. There are twelve municipalities in the canton, the central place is San Pablo de Lípez in the southern part of the canton with 221 inhabitants, the largest village is Polulos with 303 inhabitants ( 2001 census ). The mean altitude of the canton is 4200  m .

The canton of San Pablo de Lípez is located in the Cordillera de Lípez , which borders the Bolivian Altiplano to the south.
