Heilig Kreuz Chapel (Grasleiten)

The Roman Catholic chapel Heilig Kreuz in the Huglfingen district of Grasleiten in the Upper Bavarian district of Weilheim-Schongau was built in 1735 as a court chapel for the Grasleiten estate there. The church is a listed building and is located a few meters south of the manor house.

history

The chapel was built in 1735 according to plans by Joseph Schmuzer , who was also involved in the execution. The building owner was the owner of the then Klosterschwaige Grasleiten, the provost of the Augustinian canons of Polling , Patritius Oswald.

Description and equipment

The ground floor level hall building is faces east and externally has a pilaster strips - and pilasters with a richly profiled cornice. The gable rider with a curved hood sits above the west facade . Inside the single-bay nave with barrel vault and drawn-in, single-bay choir with domed vault, there is economical stucco and an effective high altar by Franz Xaver Schmädl .

At the altar, next to the central crucifix, there are figures of the "peasant saints" Leonhard (left) and Isidor (right). Below the cross there is a smaller depiction of the Mater dolorosa in a niche . Two putti and a seraph float above the niche, as well as above the arch crowning the altar .
