The United Nations Capital Development Fund ( UNCDF ) ( U nited N ations C apital D evelopment F and ) is a subsidiary organ of the United Nations . He works closely with the United Nations Development Program UNDP and acts as the secretariat for the Better Than Cash Alliance to promote financial inclusion.
The UNCDF was founded in 1966 by the UN General Assembly to make small, targeted capital investments in poverty reduction projects in the world's least developed countries . The "microfinance" concerns infrastructure measures, projects for women and children, and the promotion of small industrial and agricultural facilities.
With their low annual budget of currently 40 million US dollars , they are way behind the capabilities of the World Bank Group .
