Qarabutaq ( Kazakh Қарабұтақ ; Russian Карабутак Karabutak ) is a place in the Audany Äiteke Bi in the Aqtöbe region in northwestern Kazakhstan .

The place is 125 km east of Chromtau and 210 km east of Aqtöbe .

The border with Russia runs 70 km to the north.

In the eastern area flows the Irgis ( Russian Иргиз ), a right tributary of the Turgai .

The place is at the beginning of the A22 , the east-west route from Qarabutaq to Qostanai . The A22 connects the M32 at Qarabutaq with the M36 at Qostanai and is the only road between western and northern Kazakhstan.
