Carom is a skill game for children by Heinz Meister from 1995. The game principle is reminiscent of the billiard variant carom and the board game Carrom . In addition to the basic game, the instructions give two variants.

procedure

Basic game

The task in a carom is to use the weft line, which is the cue here , to hit two stones whose colors have been rolled. Any flat surface can be used as a playing field. The shape of the playing field is determined with the adjustable border. The shooting stones are placed on the playing field with a distance of approx. 15 cm.

The player whose turn it is throws both color dice. If both dice show the same color, the player gets one point and rolls again. If the dice show different colors, the player must use the string to shoot one of the stones whose colors the dice show with the string against the other stone. He puts the cord loosely around the stone and then quickly tensions the cord by pulling on the ends. When shooting, the gang stone, which can be used like a flexible billiard board, can be used, but the boundary itself must not be exceeded. If the shot was valid according to the rules, the player receives one point. The player can roll the dice and shoot again as often as he likes, the points are then added up. If the player does not stop before a shot is invalid, all points are forfeited. Then it is the next player's turn. A player wins as soon as he is the first to reach a certain number of points.

Variant of Karamba

The task at Karamba is to use the string to shoot a stone between two others whose colors have been rolled. The preparation corresponds to that of the basic game, but the pieces are not placed on the field.

Before throwing the dice for the first time, each player distributes the stones anywhere on the field. Then he rolls the dice until the dice show two different colors. The player must now shoot any third stone between the rolled stones. The shooting takes place as in the basic game. After a valid shot, the move can be continued or ended, as in the basic game. As in the basic game, a player wins as soon as he is the first to reach a certain number of points.

Variant of caramboli

The task at Karamboli is to hit as many of the shooting stones as possible one after the other with the help of the string. The demarcation is spanned as a rectangle. The shooting stones are placed on the field in a line parallel to one long side of the rectangle with a distance of approx. 5 cm from one another.

The player shoots the stones one after the other. From the second stone he tries to hit as many of the stones that have already been shot with the current stone as possible. For every touch the player gets one point. For each stone that is shot over the boundary, the player is deducted two points. The turn ends when all six stones have been shot once, the points are added up. After each move, the stones are returned to the position described above. The shooting is the same as in the basic game. The player who has the most points after an agreed number of rounds wins.
