Children's game of the year 2011

There's the worm inside is a dice game by Carmen Kleinert , which was published by Zoch Verlag in 2011 and was awarded the Children's Game of the Year prize by the Game of the Year jury in the same year . It is recommended for children aged 4 and over and can be played with two to four players. One round takes about 10 to 20 minutes.

Each player moves a worm through a garden bed with one dice and in the extended version bets which worm will be in the lead at two intermediate points.

Equipment and gameplay

The game board has four narrow depressions, in each of which a worm burrows. They are covered over most of the playing field, twice in the course of the lanes you can see the worms through slits. The two slots are marked with daisies and strawberries.

Each player pushes a worm head into his or her path. Then a color cube determines how long the piece of worm may be, which is pushed into the recess to lengthen your own worm, causing the worm's head to move forward. The game ends when a worm sticks its head out of the earth (the cover) at the end of the worm path and thus reaches the compost heap. In the basic version for small children, the owner of the first worm wins.

Older children from the age of 6 can bet twice on which worm is in front and which is the first to be seen at the two slots, as part of an extended set of rules. To do this, they place their daisy and strawberry tokens on the trail of the worm that they believe is leading. If you are correct, you can add the daisy or strawberry piece to your own worm and thus increase your chances of victory.

target group

With a suitability from four years of age, Da worm inside is suitable for a young target group even within the children's game of the year. The jury praised the game as "easy to learn, very funny worm-rooting competition", which "is particularly suitable for younger children thanks to its simple rules and the extraordinary, wonderfully designed game plan."
