from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Karl-Heinz Schmidt (born June 15, 1938 in Chemnitz ; † April 26, 2016 in Klingenthal ) was a German Protestant pastor who became famous as a dialect author in the Erzgebirge .

Life

Schmidt, who grew up in Rittersgrün (his mother's home village), initially devoted himself to an apprenticeship as a baker, followed by time as a journeyman. After studying Protestant theology at the Paulinum in Berlin , which he started in 1960, he took up his first position as a pastor in Rollwitz in the Uckermark in 1964 . When he was appointed pastor of Markersbach in 1969 , he returned to his home in the Ore Mountains. In 1984 he was transferred to Klingenthal , where he served as pastor in the Sachsenberg-Georgenthal parish until he retired in 1999.

Encouraged by Karl Hans Pollmer , he is the author of numerous books in the Erzgebirge dialect , in which he summarizes short episodes, experiences and things he has heard from his church service experience. These books were mainly published by the Evangelische Verlagsanstalt in Leipzig . In addition, he was not afraid to present his stories and Schnorken publicly in a popular way and even to bring Ore Mountain humor to the church. Since 2001 he has held regular services in dialect.
