Karl Arnau

Karl Arnau , also Carl Arnau , (born November 26, 1843 in Hungary , † November 4, 1910 in Innsbruck ) was an Austrian actor.

Arnau began to study sculpture at the art academy in Vienna . He broke off this course without a degree and switched to the theater. At the age of 20 he made his successful debut as "Ferdinand" on September 4, 1863 in Vienna. After a short guest performance in Pressburg , he was engaged as a second lover at the theater in Leipzig .

In September 1870 Arnau appeared at the Deutsches Theater in Prague . During this time he made the acquaintance of Heinrich Laube , who brought him to the Vienna City Theater in August 1872 . After a brief engagement at the Hamburg City Theater in 1896 , Arnau was committed to the Court Theater in Vienna in 1879 , where he remained a member of the ensemble until 1897. In addition, Arnau was entrusted with a teaching position at the Conservatory of the Society of Friends of Music . In 1897 he resigned from all offices and gave his farewell performance.
