Karl August Arnold

Karl August Arnold (born October 29, 1888 in Steinbach (Baden-Baden) , † November 7, 1980 in Rosenheim ) was a German painter .

Life

Karl August Arnold was the son of a school principal. He studied German , modern philology and art history in Strasbourg and Munich . During his studies in 1910 he became a member of the Strasbourg fraternity Arminia . After dropping out of teaching , he became a student of Heinrich von Zügel and became a painter. During the First World War he was used as an artillery observer and artillery officer in northern France and Galicia . War drawings , sketches and watercolors were created there . After the war he worked as a freelance artist in the Black Forest and moved to Endorf am Chiemsee in 1919 . From 1921 to 1940 he showed a permanent art exhibition to Arnold Herrenchiemsee in the library hall of Herrenchiemsee Palace .
