Karl August von Greiffenberg (born February 7, 1738 in Thümer near Drewitz , † January 11, 1807 in Weimar ) was a Prussian major general and chief of the 4 fusilier battalion.

Life

His parents were the heir to Thümen Ernst August von Greiffenberg (* 1710; † October 5, 1798) and his wife Anna Friederike, née Schilling (* 1717; † May 25, 1777).

Military career

He came to Berlin on December 14, 1752 as a cadet. From there it was on August 19, 1756 Corporal Corporal in the Infantry Regiment. 1 is added. During the Seven Years' War he fought in the battles near Prague , Roßbach , Leuthen , Liegnitz , Torgau and Freiberg as well as in the sieges of Prague, Breslau and Dresden. On January 14, 1796 he was now lieutenant colonel of the 2nd Warsaw Fusilier Brigade. Then on June 15, 1798, Greiffenberg became a colonel and joined the Grawert Corps in Upper Silesia shortly before the Fourth Coalition War . On May 20, 1806 he was promoted to major general with a patent from May 24, 1806. During the war he fought in the battle of Auerstedt , where he was badly wounded. He died on January 11, 1807 in Weimar as a result of his injuries.

He married Wilhelmine Henriette Herold on September 20, 1792 in Bromberg (* May 20, 1776; † August 23, 1801). The couple had the following children:
