Karl Becker (born September 20, 1923 in Flörsheim am Main ; † May 3, 2002 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a German doctor and politician ( CDU ).

Life and work

Becker was born the son of a commercial employee. After graduating from high school in Frankfurt-Höchst in 1941 , he began studying medicine at the universities of Frankfurt am Main, Heidelberg , Kiel , Munich and Erlangen , which he completed in 1949 with the state examination and doctorate to become Dr. med. finished. From 1949 to 1955 he then completed further training in internal medicine in Frankfurt hospitals. In 1956 he set up his own practice in Frankfurt-Eschersheim , which he has been running as a group practice with his wife since 1984. Since 1948 Becker was a member of the Catholic student association KDStV Badenia (Strasbourg) Frankfurt am Main .

Political party

Becker had been a member of the CDU since 1969. Later he became chairman of the medium-sized and business association of the CDU / CSU (MIT) in Frankfurt am Main.

MP

Becker was a member of the City Council of Frankfurt am Main from 1972 to 1976. In the 1976 Bundestag election, he was elected to the German Bundestag via the Frankfurt am Main II constituency, to which he initially belonged until 1980. From September 13, 1982, when he replaced the resigned MP Hans-Joachim Jentsch on the state list of the CDU Hessen , until 1990 he was again a member of the Bundestag. From 1983 to 1990 he again represented the constituency of Frankfurt II in parliament.
