Baron , since 1838 Count Karl Cerrini de Monte Varchi (born October 9, 1777 in Raab (Hungary); † January 6, 1840 ) was an Imperial-Royal Austro-Hungarian Major General .

Life

He came from an old noble Florentine family, from which Fabrizio Cerrini moved to Austria in 1671 and became the progenitor of an Austrian and a Saxon line. His father Joseph Cerrini de Monte Varchi (* 1743) was raised to the rank of baron and died in 1809 as a field marshal lieutenant . The mother was Donna Isabella de Andrade.

Karl Cerrini had been lord and farmer in Styria since May 10, 1825 . He was also a member of the Styrian Agricultural Society, k. and k. Major General in the Genie Corps , as well as kuk chamberlain , Privy Councilor and Chief Steward to the sons of Archduke Karl in Vienna. So since 1836 the later Vice Admiral and Naval Commander in Chief Friedrich von Österreich (1821-1847) and the later Feldzeugmeister Wilhelm von Österreich (1827-1894) had been brought up under his first supervision.

On August 14, diploma of November 20, 1838, he was awarded the count of the Austrian hereditary lands in Vienna.

Before he attained the rank of major general, he was already Imperial and Royal Chamberlain , colonel and commander of the sapper corps .

Cerrini was also a member of the Association for the Advancement of Fine Arts in Vienna.

His sister Maria Anna had been married to the later General Paul von Wernhardt since 1804 and was the mother of his nephew Stefan von Wernhardt since 1806 , and since 1852 Lieutenant Field Marshal .

The supreme commander of the Saxon Army Clemens Cerrini de Monte Varchi was his cousin.

On June 24, 1822, Karl Cerrini de Monte Varchi married the Countess Maria Karolina von Khuenburg (born July 26, 1802). The daughter of Count Alois von Khuenburg, lady of the Star Cross , lived as a widow in Vienna and in 1870 became heiress of Khuenburg Castle in Tamsweg and Ottersbach Castle in Großklein . She died in 1883.

Three of her four sons served in the Imperial and Royal Army. Children:
