Karl Claussen (philologist)

Karl Claussen (born June 21, 1811 in Pillau , Samland ; † October 13, 1896 in Rastenburg , Masuria ) was a German philologist and member of parliament in East Prussia.

Life

Claussen attended the later Herzog-Albrechts-Schule (Rastenburg) from Easter 1821 to Easter 1831 . After graduating from high school, he studied philology and German at the Albertus University in Königsberg . Like many Rastenburg high school graduates, he became a member of Corps Masovia in the summer semester of 1831 . He was an excellent senior . After graduating, he came to his former school as a probationary candidate at Easter 1836. Since May 1868 the first senior teacher , he was as uncharacterized Gymnasialprofessor put on 1 October 1883 in retiring after over 47 years.

He was a member of the Prussian House of Representatives for Rastenburg - Gerdauen - Friedland .

He died at the age of 85. On June 10, 1901, students and friends, lodge and corps brothers erected a memorial stone on his grave in Rastenburg.
