Karl Gottlieb von Dechen

Karl Gottlieb von Dechen (until 1684: Decher ) (* 1644 in Frankfurt (Oder) ; † May 12, 1719 ibid) was a Prussian major general and commander of Frankfurt an der Oder. He was also the heir to the Drehnow manor .

Life

origin

His parents were the professor at the University of Frankfurt (Oder) Joachim Decher (born January 7, 1614 in Brandenburg an der Havel ; † June 24, 1667 in Frankfurt (Oder)) and his wife, Margaretha Hemeling from Bremen. His sister Katharina was married to Privy Councilor Johann Rhetz .

Military career

Karl sat down at the 24 April 1656 as a student at the University of his hometown enroll . As early as 1686 he was Ayde major in the Swiss regiment "Zurlauben" in France. Decher had received the citizenship letter from Basel on June 20, 1684 and was able to join the regiment as a Swiss. There he was promoted to captain on 1687 . He rose to the next level, becoming Sergeant Major on June 15, 1691 and Lieutenant Colonel on February 11 . On March 26, 1694, Brigadier Beat Heinrich Josef Zurlauben , Baron von Gestellenburg, Count von Viller confirmed that he had served in the regiment for 15 years and 7 months and fought valiantly in Ireland and France.

He then returned to Kurbrandenburg and served as a major in the "Dönhoff" battalion. There he received his patent as colonel of the infantry on March 12, 1704 . On January 21, 1710 he was appointed brigadier and on January 23, 1712 he was appointed commander of Frankfurt an der Oder. On January 8, 1716 he became major general there. He died in May 1719 in Frankfurt an der Oder.

family

He was married to Louise d'Angloure (* 1657; † March 12, 1730 in Frankfurt (Oder)). The couple had the following children:

  • Esther Emilie de Martel (Martel de Linboeuf) (* around 1692; † December 22, 1730)

The widow married Colonel Caesar De Justet, commandant of Frankfurt, in 1724.

Nobility rise

On January 25, 1684 the siblings Joachim Decher (Kurbrandenburg artillery captain, married to Beate Hedwig von Essen, daughter of General Johann von Essen ), Katharina Elisabeth (married to Johann Rhetz ) and Karl Gottlieb Decher received from Emperor Leopold I. (HRR) the imperial nobility diploma. It was on March 25, 1684 by the Brandenburg Elector Friedrich III. accepted.
