Johann Rhetz
Johann Friedrich Rhetz , also: Rhetius (* approx. 1633 in Brandenburg ; † October 6, 1707 in Berlin ) was a German lawyer .
Life
Rhetz studied law in Wittenberg and at the Frankfurt University Viadrina with Friedrich von Jena and Gottfried von Jena . In 1656 he obtained his licentiate , in 1660 he received his doctorate in law. In 1673 he became a full professor at the Viadrina Faculty of Law. One of his students there was Christian Thomasius . In 1682 Rhetz was appointed to the Privy Council and moved to Berlin. He later became chief curator of the Friedrichs University in Halle, which was founded in 1694 .
family
He had been married to Katharina Elisabeth Decher since 1673 (on January 25, 1684, Emperor Leopold I and her brothers raised her to the imperial nobility as "von Dechen"). The couple had a daughter Margarethe Elisabeth († October 6, 1748) who was married to General David Gottlob von Gersdorf . The Prussian general Karl Gottlieb von Dechen was his wife's brother.
