Karl Hammerschmidt (politician)

Karl Hammerschmidt (born June 12, 1862 in Kipfenberg , † July 26, 1932 in Munich ) was a German high school director and politician . He was a member of the Bavarian Chamber of Deputies from 1899 to 1924 and its second vice-president from 1907 to 1911.

Live and act

Hammerschmidt was born the son of a district forester and studied classical philology in Erlangen , Munich and Leipzig . During his studies in 1880 he became a member of the Germania Erlangen fraternity . He was promoted to Dr. phil. doctorate , was a grammar school assistant in 1885, then a grammar school teacher in Speyer in 1890 . In 1900 he became a grammar school professor , in 1909 he became vice principal at the grammar school in Neustadt an der Haardt , where he became grammar school director in 1913. In 1919 he became senior director of studies at the Theresien-Gymnasium in Munich , and in 1924 he became a secret senior teacher. He was a member of the Bavarian Chamber of Deputies from 1899–1904 (Neustadt an der Haardt), 1905–1907 (Landau), 1907–1916 (Neustadt an der Haardt) and then until 1924. He was the second Vice President of the Chamber from 1907–1911. He was a member of the DDP .
