Karl Heinrich Frotscher
Karl Heinrich Frotscher (born May 6, 1796 in Weira ; † April 9, 1876 ) was a German educator and philologist .
Life
Frotscher was born in Wegra in 1796. In 1817 he became a collaborator at the Thomas School in Leipzig and in 1819 rector of the Schneeberg Lyceum. In 1820 he became a teacher at the Leipzig Nikolaischule and in 1828 its vice-principal . From 1822 he was also a sub-librarian at the Leipzig Council Library . He also became an associate professor at the University of Leipzig . In 1835 he took over the rectorate of the Annaberg Latin School and in 1843 that of the Freiberg Latin School.
He was a member of the Leipzig Polytechnic and German Society for Research into the German Language and the Leipzig Economic Society . Furthermore, he was an honorary member of the Royal Saxon Philological Seminary in Leipzig and the Ducal Latin Society Jena, as well as its President .
