In May 2014, the Constitutional Court under Huber's chairmanship ruled that Horst Seehofer's Bavarian state government had to provide the state parliament opposition with information on how much budget the five cabinet members Ludwig Spaenle , Helmut Brunner , Beate Merk , Franz Josef Pschierer , Bernd Sibler and Gerhard Eck gave theirs Had paid family members in connection with the relatives affair . Even the conservative newspaper Die Welt saw this as a slap in the face for the state government.
Karl Huber retired at the end of February 2015. Peter Küspert was appointed successor as President of the Constitutional Court and the Higher Regional Court.
