Karl Ivar Refseth (born December 30, 1977 at Lillehammer ) is a Norwegian jazz musician ( vibraphone and composition ).

Live and act

Refseth played in a local marching band as a teenager and discovered jazz. After completing his military service in the Navy Music Corps, he studied classical percussion in Oslo from 1988 ; During this time he was active in symphony orchestras and at the opera. After graduating in 2005, he concentrated on improvised music and moved to Berlin, where he continued studying with David Friedman until 2009, concentrating on the vibraphone.

First he led his quartet, which Ignaz Dinné belonged to. Daniel Glatzel brought him to the Andromeda Mega Express Orchestra . At the same time he formed the Trio Hägar , with whom he toured in Scandinavia and Germany; He also played in the quintet Transit Room and in the Tied and Tickled Trio ( La Place Demon ). Since 2010 he has been part of the live cast of The Notwist . He then composed and played with Console for the radio play "Gott" by Andreas Ammer . With his own trio, which has been in existence since 2009, he released the album Praying in 2015 ; he also gives solo concerts. He also played with the Alien Ensemble .
