Karl Klaar

Karl Klaar (born November 3, 1865 in Innsbruck ; † September 18, 1952 there ) was an Austrian archivist and historian .

Life

Klaar studied history at the University of Innsbruck , where he also received his doctorate. From 1893 to 1895 he worked at the Institute for Austrian Historical Research in Vienna . He then got a job at the Lieutenancy Archive in Innsbruck , where he became the de facto director of the archive until 1907 and director in 1919. He held the management of the archive until 1923.

From 1904 to 1920, Klaar was editor of the regional historical journal Research and Communications on the History of Tyrol and Vorarlberg .

In 1910/11, Klaar ordered and recorded the Bolzano city archives on behalf of the Tyrolean archives authority , the old holdings of which he clearly structured in files, manuscripts and documents.

From the 1920s, the strictly committed Catholic Klaar for cribs beings and took over the editorship of the magazine cribs friend on behalf of Tyrol "Association of Friends of Nativity".

Klaar's extensive estate is kept in the Tyrolean State Archives.
