Karl Matthäus Woschitz

Karl Matthäus Woschitz (born September 19, 1937 in Sankt Margareten im Rosental ) is an Austrian Catholic theologian .

Life

Woschitz received his Matura in 1955 in Tanzenberg , German-Griffen . He received his doctorate in 1963 with the dissertation Principle Hope - Mystery Hope. Ernst Bloch's ontology of not-yet-being and a Christian metaphysics of hope at the University of Innsbruck , was ordained a priest in Klagenfurt in 1961 and appointed professor at the University of Graz. After 1971 he taught in Salzburg and Innsbruck as well as at various universities in Austria and Germany . Of him in 1978 Cardinal Innitzer promotion price of Theology awarded

From 1989 to 1991 Woschitz was dean of the theological faculty at the University of Graz. Pope John Paul II appointed him Honorary Prelate of His Holiness in 1995 . He was awarded the Austrian Cross of Honor for Science and Art , 1st Class in 1996. He has been Vice Dean of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts Class VII - World Religions since 1994 and a member of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts since 2001.

Karl Woschitz is professor emeritus for Biblical Theology and Religious Studies and was head of the Institute for Religious Studies at the University of Graz from 1984 to 2005 . Today he is the rector of the Christ the King's Church in Klagenfurt .
