Career

Club career

Karl Ouimette started his career with youth clubs in the Terrebonne region before joining youth teams in Lanaudière and Laval . In 2010 he moved to Montreal Impact , where he was trained in the youth academy .

Initially, Ouimette played for the U-21s of the franchise , where he was also team captain from 2011 . On June 5, 2012 at the age of 20, he signed a professional contract and joined the first team of the Montreal team at the age of 20 through the Homegrown Player Rule . He was the first player to make the leap from a youth academy to the first team of an MLS franchise as a homegrown player , and after Patrice Bernier the second Quebec player in Major League Soccer. He came on two missions during the season; he played his first game against Houston Dynamo .

In the 2013 season Ouimette played seven games (six from the start), where he scored his first goal in the MLS on October 19, 2013 against Philadelphia Union . In addition, he was also used in ten games in the MLS Reserve League . In the following season he came to eleven missions (nine from the start).

In February 2015, Montreal Impact announced that it would do without Ouimette in the future. The franchise justified this with the low chances of Ouimette to be able to assert himself in the defense of Impacts and wanted to offer him new development opportunities.

After a trial with the New York Red Bulls, Ouimette was signed on March 4, 2015. For the 2015 season, the New York Red Bulls II, the second team in the franchise, will play in the United Soccer League .

National team

Ouimette has been appointed to the Canadian U-17 national soccer team several times and took part with her, among other things, in the 2009 U-17 World Cup in Nigeria . He also ran for the U-20 national team .

On November 19, 2013 he was then nominated for the first time for the Canadian national soccer team . He made his debut in the friendly against Slovenia .
