Karl Wilhelm Justi
Karl Wilhelm Justi (born January 14, 1767 in Marburg ; † August 7, 1846 there ; also Carl Wilhelm Justi ) was a German philosopher and Lutheran theologian .
Life
Karl Wilhelm Justi was pastor at the Lutheran Parish Church in Marburg . He was in 1793 a full professor of philosophy at the University in Marburg and in 1822, after the date Calvinist University to expand the Protestant University took place, also Professor of Theology Lutheran denomination . In addition, he devoted himself to the description of Hessian art monuments and published a number of publications. In 1797 he also published the first biography of Saint Elizabeth compiled from historical sources , which was revised again in 1835.
Justi founded a well-known Marburg family of scholars. His descendants include Carl Justi , Ferdinand Justi and Ludwig Justi .
He also belonged to the so-called Marburg Romantic Circle , which also included Bettina Brentano and Clemens Brentano , Karoline von Günderode , Sophie Mereau , Achim von Arnim , Leonhard and Friedrich Creuzer , Jacob Grimm and Wilhelm Grimm , Friedrich Carl von Savigny and the pastor Johann Heinrich Christian Bang (1774–1851) from the neighboring town of Goßfelden belonged.
