Karl von Harder

Karl Heinrich von Harder (born March 21, 1787 in Brandshagen , † August 26, 1857 in Berlin ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

Karl was a son of the heir to Benkenhagen and Brandshagen Daniel Christoph von Harder and his wife Lisette Philippine, née Melms.

Military career

Harder joined the body regiment of the Swedish Army as a volunteer in 1800 and was promoted to second lieutenant in mid-February 1801 . During the Fourth Coalition War he took part in the defense of Stralsund , earned a gold medal in the battle near Safvar and the Knight's Cross of the Order of the Sword at Bazar . He also fought with pints. On June 16, 1809, he became a first lieutenant and on July 12, 1815, he became a captain . In October 1815 Sweden ceded its possessions in Pomerania to Prussia. Many of the Pomeranian soldiers switched to Prussian services and Harder was hired as prime lieutenant on October 22, 1815.

On January 16, 1816, he was aggregated to the 1st Pomeranian Infantry Regiment , rose to captain in mid-November 1817 and joined the 36th Infantry Regiment at the end of March 1818 . On March 17, 1820, he was transferred to the 40th Infantry Regiment . With his promotion to major , Harder was transferred to the 2nd Battalion in the 32nd Landwehr Regiment on March 20, 1833. This was followed from March 30, 1837 a use in the 30th Infantry Regiment and on March 22, 1843 his promotion to lieutenant colonel . On September 1, 1845, he was charged with leading the 16th Infantry Regiment . In this position he was appointed colonel on March 31, 1846 , and regimental commander on October 5, 1846. Under awarding of the character as a major general Harder received his on February 13, 1849 farewell with board . He died in Berlin on August 26, 1857 and was buried in the garrison cemetery on August 28, 1857 .

family

Harder married Pauline Luise von Hochwächter (1792–1872), a daughter of the landowner Christoph Ludwig von Hochwächter , on March 13, 1818 in Brandshagen.The daughter Klara (* 1843), who was the Prussian major Karl von Hochwächter († 1889 ) got married.
