Karlsbach is a district of the town of Waldkirchen in the Lower Bavarian district of Freyung-Grafenau . Until 1978, the parish village and the surrounding hamlets formed an independent community.
location
The parish village is located on the Schinderbach about three kilometers northwest of Waldkirchen on the Passau – Freyung railway line .
history
The village was mentioned for the first time around 1250 in the property register of the Hochstift Passau (according to the Parish Association website). Karlsbach belonged to the Waldkirchen office of the Leoprechting nursing court in the Passau monastery . The land register from 1787 lists 13 properties in Kalsbach. The place was secularized in 1803 with most of the bishopric area in favor of Archduke Ferdinand of Tuscany and only fell to Bavaria in 1805. Karlsbach came to the Wolfstein Regional Court , formed in 1806 , then to the Waldkirchen Regional Court, formed in 1862. With the municipal edict of 1818, the municipality of Karlsbach was created from the tax district of the same name . The districts of Appmannsberg, Höpplhof and Lämmersreut of the tax district of Harsdorf and Grillaberg of the tax district Ort were assigned to Karlsbach.
In 1921 the Karlsbach Expositur was established and was subordinate to the Waldkirchen parish. In 1941 Karlsbach was raised to a parish.
With effect from January 1, 1946, the municipality of Karlsbach received the Reut Ortflur, which previously belonged to the municipality of Böhmzwiesel . Grillaberg, on the other hand, was incorporated into the municipality of Freyung and came back to the municipality of Ort on April 1, 1949. On January 1, 1978, the municipality of Karlsbach came to the city of Waldkirchen as part of the regional reform in Bavaria .
Attractions
The parish church of St. Josef was built in 1922 by the architect E. Finsterwalder, Munich. The high altar Faith, Hope, Love and other sculptures were created in 1948/49 by the Passau sculptor Otto Zirnbauer in lime wood. In the side chapel there is a relief of the Holy Family by the sculptor Karl Knappe . (See also the list of architectural monuments in Waldkirchen )
