Karoline Seidler-Wranitzky , b. Karoline Wranitzky (* 1790 in Vienna ; † December 7, 1872 in Berlin ) was an Austrian opera singer (soprano).

Life

She was a daughter of the composer Anton Wranitzky and the older sister of the singer Anna Kraus-Wranitzky (born August 27, 1801 in Vienna, † June 23, 1851 in Wiesbaden). Her debut took place in the private theater of Prince Joseph Lobkowitz . When the Berlin violinist Karl August Seidler (born September 13, 1778 in Berlin; † February 27, 1840 there) came to Vienna in 1811, she made his acquaintance and married him in 1812. This was followed by guest appearances in Munich , Pest and at the Kärntnertor Theater in Vienna , where she was engaged from February 23, 1815 to 1817.

In 1816 she made a guest appearance at the Royal Opera in Berlin , where she subsequently received a permanent position. On June 3, 1817, she made her debut in Potsdam . One of the highlights of her career was the personification of Agathe at the world premiere of Carl Maria von Weber's opera Der Freischütz on June 18, 1821. She was also an esteemed concert singer.

In 1838 she took her leave of the stage. In 1847 she was one of the founding members of the Stern'schen Choral Society .
