Karoline Albertine Julie von Schlotheim , from 1788 Countess von Schlotheim , from 1811 Countess von Hessenstein (* July 6, 1766 , † January 7, 1847 in Kassel ) was the fourth and last mistress of Elector Wilhelm I of Hesse-Kassel , with the he had 13 children together.

She was the daughter of General Heinrich Christian Wilhelm von Schlotheim and his wife Friederike Most. She was kidnapped by the elector against her will, fled, was returned to the elector by her parents and later added herself to the relationship. She had considerable, also political, influence on Wilhelm and the development of the country. The elector admired Caroline so much that he had the Löwenburg built for her .
