Karsten Winkel (born October 28, 1961 ) is a former German first division football player who played in the GDR upper league for Stahl Riesa , for FC Carl Zeiss Jena and for Stahl Brandenburg .

Athletic career

Beginnings

Winkel began his football career at ZSG Leinefelde , where he last played in the men's division in the third-class district league Erfurt . In 1980 he moved to the first division club FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt , but was only used there in the junior league. In the spring of 1981, Winkel was drafted into military service and during this time was able to continue playing football with the Vorwärts Neubrandenburg army sports community, which was represented in the second-rate GDR league . In the 1982/83 season he was the Neubrandenburg top scorer with eleven goals. 1983/84 Winkel played for the GDR league club Motor Nordhausen , from which he moved to the top division Stahl Riesa in the summer of 1984 .

At Stahl Riesa, the 1.72 m wide angle played all point games with one exception in the 1984/85 season. He was almost always used as a left striker and scored four goals. In the first half of the 1985/86 season, Winkel was substituted four times and missed six games, with only one goal in his seven league matches. In January 1986 he moved to FC Carl Zeiss Jena within the major league . There he was initially only used in the GDR league team FC Carl Zeiss II, where he was used 15 times in the 17 point games of the second half and only scored one goal. For the 1986/87 season Winkel was registered for the Bundesliga team of FC Carl Zeiss, but was only used as a substitute on the 1st matchday from the 84th minute and on the 3rd matchday from the 42nd minute. Also in the 2nd team he played only three point games in the first half of the season.

From change to change

In order to gain a foothold in the league again, Winkel joined the league club BSG Stahl Brandenburg in early 1987 . But even there he did not succeed in gaining a regular place. Until the summer break he was used in twelve point games, but only once from the start of the game. He scored only one goal and was only a substitute in the first half of 1987/88 with seven league games. In April 1988 he signed off from BSG Stahl and switched back to the GDR league for BSG Motor Babelsberg , where his former Brandenburg teammate Detlef Uecker was already playing. Until the end of the season, Winkel played eleven point games and scored one goal. Then he made another change and went to league competitor BSG Stahl Hennigsdorf . There he fought for a regular place (1 goal) in the 1988/89 season with 33 appearances in 34 point games. Winkel played in Hennigsdorf until the end of the 1990/91 season. Then he was active at SVG Göttingen 07 , for which played 47 point games (6 goals) in the third-class DFB-Oberliga Nord until 1993 .

Recreational footballer

Then angle returned to his home club SC Leinefelde in 1912 , where he was active in the Thuringia League for several years . In 1995 he was the top scorer in the Thuringian League with Leinefelde. In 1999 he was named Sportsman of the Year in the Eichsfeld district . For the 2000/01 season he moved again, this time to FC Union Mühlhausen . In 2014 he won the Eichsfeld indoor circle championship with the over 50s of SV Schwarz-Rot Wingerode.
