Kaspar Anton Karl Maria Freiherr von Boeselager (born December 26, 1779 in Heessen , † September 15, 1825 in Hildesheim ) was canon in Münster and provost of the Collegiate Church of the Old Cathedral in Münster.

Life

Origin and family

Kaspar Anton Karl Maria von Boeselager came as the son of Friedrich Joseph von Boeselager zu Heessen (* 1743) and his wife Augusta von der Heiden-Belderbusch of the noble family Boeselager , which had its origin in the archbishopric of Magdeburg . His brother Maximilian Anton , 1775-1821, was married to Rosine Droste zu Vischering, daughter of Clemens August Maria Droste zu Vischering . His sister Bernhardine married Maximilian von Boeselager. He and the canons Friedrich Wilhelm and Friedrich Ferdinand were third cousins. The cathedral provost Friedrich Wilhelm Anton (1713–1782) was a second cousin.

Act

After attending grammar school in Münster, Kaspar Anton began studying at the University of Münster . Appointed canon in 1796 , he was elected provost of the old cathedral in Münster on April 15, 1800 . The election was confirmed by the elector on May 4th . From 1800 to 1801 he studied in Leipzig . From 1809 on he lived with his brother-in-law Gisbert von Romberg in Dortmund. He served as provost until the abolition of the monastery on November 14, 1811 due to the Napoleonic decree. In 1813 he became company commander of the 4th Westphalian Landwehr Infantry Regiment and in 1815 took part in the campaign against Napoleon Bonaparte . Kaspar Anton was awarded the Iron Cross at Ligny . Promoted to major in 1816, he was discharged from military service.
