Caspar Ett

Caspar Ett (born January 5, 1788 in Eresing ; † May 16, 1847 in Munich ) was a German organist and composer .

Life

In 1804 he completed his high school studies at the "Paedagogium" in Munich, today's Wilhelmsgymnasium . Ett studied at the Electoral Seminary in Munich and in 1816 became court organist at the Michaelskirche . Ett earned services to the revival of choral music from the 16th to 18th centuries. In addition to Catholic church music, he also composed works for Greek Orthodox and Jewish worship. He was the music teacher of King Maximilian II . The English composer Robert Lucas Pearsall also studied early music and sheet music with him in 1832.

In Eresing a street was named after Kaspar Ett. In the inner city of Munich, the street leading past his main place of work, the Michaelskirche, was named after him as "Ett-Straße".

Ett's grave is located in the Old Southern Cemetery in Munich (field 21, row 1, place 18; location ). The stone bears a portrait medallion and the inscription:
