Kasper de Roo

Kasper de Roo (born August 2, 1951 in The Hague ) is a Dutch conductor .

Life

Kasper de Roo studied conducting and bassoon at the Conservatories in The Hague and Amsterdam . He was first bassoonist in the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and made his debut in 1979 as a conductor at the Cabrillo Music Festival in Santa Cruz (California) . In 1984 he became Kapellmeister at the Stuttgart State Opera , from 1992 to 1997 he was music director of the city of Innsbruck , opera director at the Tiroler Landestheater and chief conductor of the Innsbruck Symphony Orchestra , from 1994 to 1998 he directed the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland . In 1999 he founded Windkraft Tirol , an ensemble for contemporary music that performed at the Klangspuren Festival in Schwaz, among others .

De Roo has conducted operas at opera houses in Amsterdam, Enschede, Brussels, Berlin, Bonn, Stuttgart and Innsbruck and symphonic works in numerous orchestral concerts. A special focus was on works by Igor Stravinsky and Dmitri Shostakovich . In addition, he conducted many world premieres of contemporary music, a. a. by Mauricio Kagel , Giselher Klebe and Emmanuel Nunes , especially with the Ensemble Modern . As a guest conductor he has worked with the Koninklijk Philharmonisch Orkest Antwerpen , the NDR Symphony Orchestra , the Warsaw National Philharmonic , the Columbus Symphony Orchestra , the Basel Symphony Orchestra and the Linz Bruckner Orchestra .
