Kasperli (radio play)

The Kasperli - radio plays of Jörg Schneider can be found in German Switzerland since 1967 in numerous children's rooms . Each year more than 50,000 recordings sold it.

Emergence

Following a request of the author Adalbert Klingler Jörg Schneider and led Ines Torelli in Meadow Park in Rüschlikon in early 1960s Kasperlitheater on.

After a few years, ex-libris manager Franz Lamprecht suggested that a radio play version be recorded on record. After initial skepticism, Schneider agreed and wrote his first two Punch and Judy pieces himself. In 1967 the first record was released, which became a great success and has been the most sold to this day. A total of 22 adventures, written by Jörg Schneider, were recorded by the Zurich record company Tudor. Speakers were Jörg Schneider, Ines Torelli and Paul Bühlmann . The record covers were designed by the Zurich artist Heinz Stieger (1917–2008) and have remained unchanged to this day. There are no merchandising products. Since there are only dialect versions in Zurich German , the radio plays are hardly present in other countries.

In all adventures, Kasperli goes out to help good things to victory. He rebels against authorities and makes fun of police officers and teachers. At the end of the adventure, a moral shows up and virtues such as diligence, frugality and a sense of duty prevail. Many figures such as doctors, teachers or craftsmen are archetypal and can be found in numerous Swiss villages and towns. A Zurich German is spoken that is rarely spoken today, with expressions that are not widely used today.

The stories were written without any major concept, Schneider just wrote straight away. In part, he was inspired by everyday situations with his son or neighbors' children. Schneider never intended to give his stories a pedagogical or educational value, but simply wanted to entertain.

criticism

Schneider never took up topics such as foreign infiltration, environmental protection, unemployment, single parents and the like; this was sometimes accused by representatives of the 1968 generation who lacked the political message.

Kasperli's adventure "De Schorsch Gaggo travels to Africa" came under suspicion of racism because of expressions such as "Negro chief". In this way, a “Negermeitli” (“negro girl”) became an “Afrikanermeitli” (“African girl”). Incidentally, the name “Schorsch Gaggo” does not come from Jörg Schneider; it appears for the first time in 1948 in a Basel carnival newspaper.

A total of around three million records were sold by 2010.

For adults

There is also an 87-minute Punch and Judy Theater for adults that is broadcast on the radio and not published as a sound carrier (quote from Kasperli: “Not for the children, but for the kids”) with the title “King Meier de Tuusigscht or de Untergang vom Tuurteland” from the year 1974. It is less a cheerful play suitable for children than a tragic comedy . In addition to the well-known three speakers from the puppet theater, well-known people from the Swiss film, TV and radio world in z. Partly participated in small roles (including Inigo Gallo , Schaggi Streuli as his alter ego Polizischt Wäckerli , Walter Andreas Müller ).

New adventures

17 years after the last recording with Jörg Schneider, new adventures by Kasperli will be released in March 2012. They were written by the TV presenters Nik Hartmann and Andrea Jansen as well as Nadja Zimmermann , Nadia Meier and Anja Knabenhans. In addition to Kasperli, who is voiced by the parodist David Bröckelmann , Nik Hartmann and Fabienne Hadorn belong to the core team. Every year two prominent guest speakers lend their voices. So far: Peach Weber , Birgit Steinegger , Sibylle Aeberli, Fabian Unteregger , Claudio Zuccolini , Kiki Maeder , Hannes Hug and Michel Gammenthaler . Stephanie Türck designed the covers. In 2015 the story "S verzauberete Flugzüüg" was published as an illustrated children's book in High German with "Kasperliausxpress" in dialect.

Others

Events at which Kasperli recordings can be heard are held regularly at the “Hive” club in Zurich.
In May 2006, a Kasperli stamp by the artist Heinz Stieger was published.
In 2008, a Kasperli coffee cream lid appeared in the series for the anniversary "40 years of the Association for the Promotion of Swiss Youth Culture".
In a television program, the Swiss politician Christoph Blocher used a saying from Kasperli: "Hüt en rappe, morn en rappe, git e schoeni Zipfelchappe" .
