Kasselski (Kassel; Russian Кассельский ) is a village in Nagaibakski rajon in Chelyabinsk Oblast . Kassel - from the Latin castellum - "fortress, fortification".

The municipality comprises three settlements: Kasselski (1,224 inhabitants), Podgornyy ( Russian Подгорный ; 258) and Chernorechenski ( Russian Чернореченский ; 288); a total of 1,770 inhabitants.

The place is located in the northwestern part of the region at the confluence of the small rivers Topkaja ( Russian Топкая ) and Chernaja ( Russian Черная ) in the Gumbeika ( Russian Гумбейка ). Nagaibakski is approx. 50 km, Chelyabinsk approx. 250 km away.

The road 75К-173 passes Kasselski. The other parts of the commune can be reached by 3rd order road 75К-469.

Infrastructure

In the village there is the Kassel Museum of National Culture, a secondary school, kindergarten, music school and a post office.

economy

Since 2013 there has been a poultry farm ( Russian: “Нагайбакский птицеводческий комплекс” ) on the north-western outskirts, in which 240,000 animals for slaughter and laying hens are kept.

history

Kasselski was founded in 1842 and initially had the status of a military settlement - the post no. 1 of the Orenburg Cossack Army in the Nowolineiny rajon . The name was chosen in memory of the battle of the Russian troops with Napoleon's army near Kassel on September 30, 1813.
