She subsequently created numerous studies on motion sequences, supported by the study of motion photography by Eadweard Muybridge . After studying human movement for several years, Katharina Bach expanded her interest in figure movement and turned to the principle of movement in general. Her complete oeuvre includes around 4000 paintings, drawings, graphics, sculptures and ceramics. Katharina Bach's work is characterized by a variety of artistic forms of expression.

The fall of the Berlin Wall inspired Bach to create installations that were positioned at the former inner-city Berlin border crossings. Katharina Bach wrote about this in 1993: The border crossings between the west and the east of Berlin have left their mark. Especially in the memory of those who lived before - or behind. For the residents of Berlin, it wasn't just border crossings, they were controlled concrete lanes: entrances or exits to another world. Today (1993) these are places that have remained free. They signal absurd emptiness in the inner-city area. Former no man's land, through which one somehow moves carelessly. The seven towers of this project refer to seven of the earlier border crossings between East and West Berlin . In each of the individual tower sculptures there are abstract symbols for typical features of the respective transition point.

In addition to classic materials such as oil paint, tempera and canvas, Katharina Bach uses telephone book paper, acid-treated metals, polished or acid-etched wire hangers, license plates of the former Soviet army , toothbrushes , cherry stones, crispbread , wood , in particular in her three-dimensional works . Rubber and plastic pipes.
