Katharina John (born July 9, 1970 in Heidelberg ) is a German dramaturge .

Life

She took on her first engagements in 1994 as an assistant director in drama while still studying at the stages of the state capital of Kiel . From the 1995/96 to 2003 season she was a music theater dramaturge for opera, concert and ballet under the artistic director Kirsten Harms in the permanent ensemble of the Kiel Opera . She then worked in the field of music management for the Berlin agency K&K, Kultur & Kommunikation. At the beginning of the 2005/06 season she moved to the Saarland State Theater in Saarbrücken for a year before Kirsten Harms hired her as Deputy Chief Dramaturge at the Deutsche Oper Berlin for the 2005/06 season . From January 2011 Katharina John was employed as chief dramaturge for all branches, then also as managing director of the music theater and finally opera director at the Augsburg Theater. Together with the game association Adversary Circumstances , she conceived an art night at the Museum Pfalzgalerie Kaiserslautern, in which the essence of art was questioned in dialogue with the visitors and a course of theater, information, installation and discourse (April 4, 2014). In September 2014 it was announced that she will be working as opera director at Theater Trier from summer 2015 . This contract was terminated early in September 2017.
