Katharina von Grünewaldt

Katharina Sophie Kitty von Grünewaldt (born September 15 (Julian. Kal.) / September 27, 1866 in Minsk ; † January 1, 1917 in Reval ) was a Baltic German deaconess and poet .

Origin and family

Katharina von Grünewaldt came from the German-Baltic noble family von Grünewaldt . Her father was Conrad Moritz Georg von Grünewaldt (1825–1868), a son of the civil governor Johann von Grünewaldt (1796–1862). Her mother was Natalie von der Pahlen-Astrau (1831-1900). Katharina was unmarried.

Her older sister Anna Katharina Alexandra von Grünewaldt (born March 4, 1859 in Affel ; † May 30, 1913 on the trip from Berlin to Eydtkuhnen ) was a teacher and from 1892 to 1910 superior of the Kaiserin Augusta Foundation in Potsdam . She was awarded the Cross of Merit for Women and Virgins .

Her second oldest sister Auguste Elisabeth von Grünewaldt (born April 16, 1861 in Affel) was abbess of the Fellin's noble fräuleinstift from 1909 .

Life

After homeschooling , Katharina attended the Auguste Kuschky School in Reval, then also in Reval from 1879 to 1883 the Howensche School. This was followed by training in the Diakonisches Haus Frankfurt am Main , Diakonie Neuendettelsau and in Berlin . From 1908 to 1917 she was Superior of the Diaconal Institution in Reval.
