Kathleen Gati (born August 13, 1957 in Canada ) is a Canadian actress .

Life and accomplishments

Gati has Hungarian ancestry. Her father was a conductor, her mother an opera singer . She learned acting in New York City . Gati made her debut in the 1981 crime film Die Frau mit der 45er Magnum by Abel Ferrara . In the comedy Forever Lulu (1987), she starred alongside Hanna Schygulla , Deborah Harry , Alec Baldwin and Annie Golden . In the musical Creating Rem Lezar (1989) she played one of the bigger roles alongside Jack Mulcahy .

Gati won the Hungarian Film Critics Award in 1993 for the role in the Hungarian drama Goldberg variácók (1992) . She appeared as herself in the Hungarian documentary A Színésznö és a halál (1993), for which she received an award from the Hungarian Film Week Festival in 1995 . In the crime comedy The Heaven of Hollywood (2001), she played on the side of Tom Berenger , Rod Steiger and Burt Reynolds . In 2003 she started her own production company, Gati Arts Productions . In the comedy The Elder Son (2006) she played an aunt of Lolita ( Leelee Sobieski ).
