Kathrinhagen is a district of the municipality Auetal in the district of Schaumburg in Lower Saxony with about 870 inhabitants.

The village is located about 2 km north of the motorway A 2 . Rehren is 2 km to the east. To the south is Poggenhagen 1 km away, to the west of the village are the districts of Borstel and Rolfshagen . In the north lies the extensive forest area of ​​the Bückeberg .

history

Katharinakirche Kathrinhagen (13th century)

The village emerged at the end of the 12th century. The part of the name hagen indicates a wooded area. With the confirmation of the donation from Counts Johann and Gerhard von Schaumburg in the Minden Cathedral , the village appears for the first time in a document. The oldest building by Kathrinhagen, the Katharinenkapelle, today Katharinenkirche, is mentioned for the first time here. It was built on older wall remnants from the year 1000. Since 1970 there has been the "Unterdorf" or "Kathrinhagener Siedlung" in Kathrinhagen which was built from the beginning of 1970. This belongs to the newer part of the village.

On March 1, 1974, Kathrinhagen was incorporated into the municipality of Rehren. This was already dissolved on April 1, 1974 and assigned to the new municipality of Auetal.

  • The Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. Katharina dates from the 13th century. In the sanctuary of the fortified church there is an image of a saint from the 15th century.
