Katharina Saalfrank (born November 22, 1971 in Bad Kreuznach ) is a German educator and television actress who became known through the pseudo-documentary Die Super Nanny . Since the end of this activity, she has appeared more frequently under the name Katia Saalfrank .

Life

Saalfrank grew up in Limburg an der Lahn for the first seven years , and then lived in Wiesbaden . She is the oldest of five siblings. Her father is a pastor, her mother a teacher. After the 10th grade, she completed an apprenticeship as a lawyer and notary assistant , which Saalfrank later criticized about hierarchical structures and notoriously insufficient demands. After completing her training, she made up her Abitur at the evening grammar school in Wiesbaden. From 1995 until her diploma in 2000, she studied education at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz . From 2000 to 2003 she completed part-time psychological-therapeutic training to become a music therapist at the Berlin University of the Arts . Although she did not complete this training, she describes herself on her website as a "music therapist".

In 2004 Saalfrank appeared for the first time as a " Super Nanny ". In 2005 she received the Offended Audience Award for violating the dignity of children by performing in extreme situations . Saalfrank lives in Berlin with her husband and four sons . In February 2006, Goldmann Verlag published the book Happy Children Need Strong Parents , written by Saalfrank , in which she provides answers to frequently asked questions about upbringing. In 2007 she was awarded the German Television Prize in the Best TV Coach category for The Super Nanny . After Saalfrank had expressed her dissatisfaction with the orientation of the format to RTL and announced that the format was no longer an option for her, RTL hired the Super Nanny on November 26, 2011. Saalfrank sued Holger Kreymeier , who runs the online magazine “ Fernsehkritik-TV ”, for the omission of some statements about a “Super Nanny” broadcast in a “Fernsehkritik-TV” report from September 2011 and won the trial.

In January 2013, SWR television broadcast a pilot episode of the program Expedition Familie with Katharina Saalfrank, which, however, did not meet the expectations in terms of audience ratings. In January 2018 she was together with Christopher Posch and Lencke Wischhusen in the Sat.1 pseudo-docu-soap Now we're helping you! - To see the problem solvers in action .

In 2008 Saalfrank had guest appearances in the films 1½ Knights - In Search of the Adorable Herzelinde and Torpedo , each in the role of a therapist. In 2010 she released her first single Ein Funken Hoffnung , which she produced with Luci van Org . She is a member of the SPD and was involved in several campaign events prior to the 2009 Bundestag election.
