Price of the offended viewers
The Media Prize of the Offended Viewers was a negative prize awarded by the network of critical television viewers by Augustus Hofmann , which honored "outstanding insolence on the part of an individual television producer or an institution responsible for programming". The prize was awarded by Hofmanns Verlag. The annual award ceremony at the Frankfurt Book Fair received regular media coverage thanks to Augustus Hofmann's press work.
The prize, which was awarded from 1989 to 2008, was understood as a reminder to treat television viewers more humanely. Every television viewer had the opportunity to vote via online voting. The trophy is called the watchdog and looks like a fish. Karl Dall , Die Sendung mit der Maus and Oliver Pocher were the only winners who also received the award. It is not known why the prize is no longer awarded.
