Catherine "Katie" Rose Greves (born September 2, 1982 in London ) is a British rower .

Athletic career

Catherine Greves began rowing in 1996. At the Junior World Championships in 1999 she won the bronze medal in the foursome without a helmsman . In 2000 she started in two boat classes and took fourth place in the four without a helmsman and sixth place in the eighth . In 2001 she finished fifth at the U23 World Championships with the four-man without a helmsman . In 2004 she rowed to seventh place in the single .

In 2005 she took part in the Rowing World Cup as a member of the British eight , and at the 2005 World Championships she finished fifth with eight. The following year, the British eighth finished eighth at the World Championships in front of a home crowd in Eton. The 2007 World Championships in Munich were more successful with winning the bronze medal. At her first Olympic participation in Beijing in 2008 , Greves finished fifth with eighth.

In 2009 Greves switched from oar rowing to scull rowing and won the first World Cup regatta with the double scull . At the 2009 World Championships , the quadruple finished fifth. In 2010 Greves started at the 2010 World Championships in one and placed ninth. In 2011 she returned to oar rowing and the British eighth. As in 2007, she won bronze at the World Championships in the pre-Olympic year 2011 . A year later, like four years before, the British eighth finished fifth at the Olympic Games in front of a home crowd in Eton. The US eight continued his winning streak at the 2016 Olympic Games , followed by the British European champions who received the silver medal ahead of Romania.

Catherine Greves remained a member of the British eight after the Olympic Games, and eighth finished fourth at the 2013 World Championships . In 2014 the British also competed at the European Championships and won silver behind the Romanians. At the 2014 World Championships , the British eight finished as the sixth boat. In 2015, he was fifth at the European Championships and fourth at the World Championships . Catherine Greves is 1.79 m tall and graduated from the University of London with a degree in literature . She is married to the rower Tom Solesbury . As a member of the British national team, she is a member of the Leander Club .
