The Kattowitzer Hütte is an Alpine Club hut in the Hohe Tauern of the Katowice section (based in Salzgitter ) of the German Alpine Club .
Location and surroundings
It is located in the Ochsenkar of the Hafner Group in Austria, southwest of the Großer Hafner .

The hut was built in 1929 and expanded in 1978.
ways
Approach
The hut can be reached from the parking lot at the Kölnbreinsperre ( 1910 m above sea level ) in two and a half hours and from the Unteren Maralm ( 1200 m above sea level ) on the Malta Hochalmstrasse in about three hours.
Mountaineering
The Große and Kleine Hafner can be reached from the hut in a good two-hour walk. Other summit destinations in the area are the Weinschnabel ( 2750 m ), the Kölnbreinspitze ( 2934 m ) or the Große Sonnblick ( 3030 m ).
Transitions to other huts
The Osnabrück hut in the Großelendtal can be reached in about four hours on foot. Down in the Maltatal is the Gmünder Hut , which is a two-hour walk. It takes about three and a half hours to walk to the Rotgüldenseehütte and seven hours to walk to the Sticklerhütte .
The hut is a stage destination of the Tauernhöhenweg .
