geography
course
Since the groundwater was lowered in the past centuries, the water of the Katzenbach no longer comes from the Katzensee , but from various pipes that drain the area around the hamlet of Katzenrüti . The Katzenbach initially flows through Rümlang as the Buechwisengraben before it passes through the Affoltern and Seebach districts of Zurich , where it flows into the Leutschenbach , which flows into the Glatt just 600 meters further .

character
The stream has been partially straightened , but over long stretches it flows very slowly and is overgrown with numerous species of aquatic plants, which benefits dragonflies and other insects . The Katzenbach is of great importance because it connects the Katzensee with the Glatt ecologically . The Katzensee can be reached via a hiking trail within an hour from the Seebach terminus on tram line 14.
