The Katzenbach , formerly called Zollbach in the lower reaches , is a left tributary of the Schwarzen Kocher in Oberkochen in the Ostalbkreis in Baden-Württemberg .
course
The Katzenbach arises on a hillside from a karst spring on the southern edge of the municipal cemetery of Oberkochen. It rises from a layer boundary spring in the shallow karst . The Katzenbachquelle lies on the Karstquellenweg . The spring water was previously used for fish farming , but nothing can be seen of it today.
The flowing stream runs southeast towards the city center and then west along Katzenbachstrasse between the houses. From the fig alley of the remaining underflow is underground verdolt . At the station bridge, after a total of 725 meters from its source, it flows out of a pipe into the mill canal of the Schwarzen Kocher.
history
Until 1803, its lower course, which at that time was still above ground, marked the customs border between the Catholic part of Oberkochen, ruled by the prince-provost of Ellwangen , and the Protestant part to the right of the stream , which belonged to the Duchy of Württemberg . In the center of Oberkochen there was a customs post on this stream near the Heidenheimer Straße 2 building (formerly Gasthaus Lamm ). The main road, which ran through the two parts of Oberkochen at that time, crossed the stream over the toll bridge . Therefore the lower reaches of the Katzenbach was called Zollbach at that time .
