Kay Voser (born January 4, 1987 in Baden , Canton Aargau) is a Swiss football player who is under contract with Charlotte Independence in the United Soccer League .

Career

Grasshopper Club Zurich

Kay Voser played for FC Fislisbach as a child , but came to Grasshopper Club Zurich (GC) as a ten-year-old . As a player in the second team (U-21), he was used three times in the Super League in the 2005/06 season . Since 2006 he has been part of the GC first division squad.

He performed well with the youth national teams in Switzerland. On March 26, 2006 he made his debut in the game GC against FC Schaffhausen under coach Krassimir Balakow , then still in midfield, in the Super League. Initially used exclusively as a left full -back, he later scored his first goal as a midfielder on March 17, 2007 in a 5-0 win against FC Luzern with a header. After that, Voser mostly played in defense again.

FC Basel

In May 2011 Kay Voser signed a three-year contract with the reigning Swiss champions FC Basel . He made his debut in a serious fight for FCB on July 16, 2011 in a 1-1 draw in the opening championship game against BSC Young Boys at the Stade de Suisse in Bern .

At the end of the 2012/13 season , Voser became Swiss champions for the second time with FC Basel and was in the final of the Swiss Cup , which they lost in the penalty shootout . In the 2012/13 UEFA Europa League he advanced to the semi-finals with FC Basel, where he had to face the reigning UEFA Champions League winner Chelsea . They lost both the home and away game and were eliminated with an aggregate result of 2: 5. In a long season with a total of 76 games (36 in the Super League, 6 in the Cup, 20 in the Champions League and Europa League, as well as 14 test games) Voser had a total of 25 appearances, 13 of them in the Super League, three in the Cup and four Appearances in the Champions and Europa League and five in friendly matches.

He scored his first goal in a competitive match for Basel in the home league game against FC Thun on November 23, 2013 when Basel won 4-1.

Fulham FC

For the 2014/15 season Voser moved to the English second division club Fulham , where he signed a two-year contract with an option for another year. He made his debut in the 5-1 loss on Matchday 4 against Derby County , where he came on in the 67th minute instead of Tim Hoogland .

On February 1, 2016, the contract with Voser was terminated. Voser played 13 games for Fulham FC. The Aargauer didn't score a goal during his time.

FC Sion

After terminating his contract with Fulham FC , Voser signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with FC Sion . After half a year and only four appearances in the first team, the contract was terminated.

FC Zurich

In summer 2016, Voser joined the Challenge league club FC Zurich .

National team

Voser had his first international match in the Swiss U-16 team on August 26, 2002. The team played 2-2 against the German U-16 juniors . He played his first international match in the Swiss U-21s on February 7, 2007 in the 4-0 away defeat against the French U-21s . In total, he made six appearances in the U-21 national team.
