Kaya Turski (born May 3, 1988 in Montreal ) is a Canadian freestyle skier . She starts in the discipline of slopestyle and big air .

Career

Turski has been participating in AFP World Tour competitions since the 2008/09 season. She reached her first podium finish in August 2008 with third place at the New Zealand Freeski Open in Wanaka . In the further course of the season she won three competitions on the Winter Dew Tour and the European Freeski Open in Laax . She won the bronze medal at the Winter X Games 2009 in Aspen . The following year she won the gold medal at the Winter X Games and the Winter X Games Europe in Tignes . She also repeated this in 2011 and 2012. At the Freestyle Skiing World Championships 2011 in Park City , she won the silver medal. In the 2011/12 season she won two races on the Winter Dew Tour. She completed her first FIS World Cup race in March 2012 in Mammoth , which she also won and thus also took first place in the Slopestyle World Cup. In January 2013 she won the silver medal at the Winter X Games . Two months later she became world champion in slopestyle at the Freestyle Skiing World Championships in Voss and won the gold medal at the following Winter X Games Europe in Tignes. From 2009 to 2013 she won the AFP World Tour Slopestyle Championship. In January 2014 she won the gold medal again at the Winter X Games in Aspen . The following month, she won 19th place in her first Olympic participation in Sochi in the first-ever slopestyle competition. At the X-Games Oslo 2016 she came sixth in Big Air. In the 2016/17 season she was fourth in Big Air at the Winter X-Games 2017 and fifth in Slopestyle at the X-Games Norway 2017 in Hafjell .
