Kazuya Shiojiri (born November 8, 1996 in Isesaki ) is a Japanese long-distance and obstacle runner .

Athletic career

Kazuya Shiojiri gained his first international experience at the 2014 Junior World Championships in Eugene , where he finished ninth in the final with 8: 45.66 minutes in the obstacle course. In 2016 he qualified in this discipline for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where he was eliminated with 8: 40.98 minutes in the lead -up. In 2017 he won the bronze medal in the 10,000-meter run at the Summer Universiade in Taipei in 29: 20.96 minutes . The following year he took part in the Asian Games in Jakarta for the first time , where he won the bronze medal in the obstacle course in 8: 29.42 minutes behind the Iranian Hossein Keyhani and Yaser Salem Bagharab from Qatar. In 2019 he won the bronze medal at the Asian Championships in Doha in 8: 32.25 minutes behind the Bahraini John Kibet Koech and Avinash Sable from India.

In 2018 Shiojiri became Japanese champion in obstacle course.
