Keeth Thomas Smart (born July 29, 1978 in Brooklyn , New York City ) is a retired American saber fencer .

successes

Keeth Smart won the bronze medal with the team at the 1999 Pan American Games in Winnipeg . At the Pan American Championships in Montreal in 2007 and in Querétaro in 2008, he won the title both individually and with the team. He took part in the Olympic Games three times : at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney he was eliminated in the second round of the individual competition against Damien Touya and thus finished 30. Four years later he finished the individual in Athens in 15th place. With the team he just missed winning a medal in fourth. In 2008 he reached Beijing with the team after victories over Hungary and Russia, however, the battle for the gold medal, in which the US team was defeated by France with 37:45. Together with Timothy Morehouse , James Williams and Jason Rogers he received the silver medal. In the individual he was sixth after a quarter-final defeat by Julien Pillet .

Smart graduated from St. John's University with a major in finance , including fencing in college sports. He also earned an MBA from Columbia University in 2010 . His sister Erinn Smart was also an Olympic fencer.
