The Kellbeek is an approximately 2.5 km long, southwest and left tributary of the Ilse in the Saxony-Anhalt district of Harz in the Harz low mountain range .
course
The Kellbeek rises and runs in the Hochharz as well as in the Harz National Park and Harz / Saxony-Anhalt Nature Park . Its source is between the Brocken ( 1141.2 m above sea level ) and the Kleiner Brocken ( 1018.4 m ) near the Hirtenstieg hiking trail leading to the Brocken at an altitude of around 1028 m . The stream flows through the Schneeloch Gorge , initially to the northeast, taking in several small streams. At the Herrmannsstraße forest path, it turns east-northeast. Shortly afterwards, the Kellbeek flows into the Oker tributary Ilse, which comes from the south, at around 575 m above sea level .
hike
The Schneelochstieg used to lead through the snow hole , a path that was just as steep and demanding as the Eckerlochstieg through the Eckerloch . However, it was closed by the national park administration, so that the Kellbeek can only be reached on the lower reaches without a special permit. Even from the Hirtenstieg , which runs near the source , the stream may not be visited.
