The Kellerjochhütte is an Alpine Club hut of the Schwaz section of the Austrian Alpine Club (ÖAV) in the Tux Alps .

Location and surroundings

It is located on the Kellerjoch on the back between the Kreuzjoch ( 2344  m ) and the Arbeserkogel ( 2026  m ), where the ridge branches off towards the south to the Kuhmesser ( 2264  m ).

history

The hut was built in 1908 by what was then the Schwaz section of the German and Austrian Alpine Association  (DuOeAV) and replaced the old Kellerjochhütte on the Proxenalm below , which opened in 1897 .

ways

Approach

The hut can be reached in an hour's walk from the top station of the Kellerjochbahn cable car below the Arbeserkogel. From Hochfügen , the hut can be reached in around two hours on foot from the Spieljochbahn mountain station . From the Loassattel south of the Kellerjoch you can reach the hut in about one and a half hours. The ascent directly from Schwaz, on the other hand, is significantly longer and takes around four hours.

Tours from the hut

From the hut, the Kreuzjoch with the summit chapel can be reached in around 20 minutes via a rope-insured path. It takes about an hour to cross the ridge to the Kuhmesser and after a descent to the Loassattel you can climb to the Gilfert . For the transition to the Rastkogelhütte a walking time of 4½ to 6 hours can be expected.

Furnishing

The Kellerjochhütte is supplied with water by a hydraulic ram due to its exposed, waterless location on the ridge . The power supply is ensured by means of a diesel power generator. Food and other goods reach the Kellerjochhütte via a material cable car.
